Steam Vents are surface vents channeling gas out from underground pockets. When near them on a Snowfox, the Snowfox will be blown into the air. The vents are only active for a few seconds at a time, and intermittently start and stop spewing gas. The player can use these vents to increase their Temperature by standing on or near them. Unlike what the PDA entry says, they will not damage the player.

These glacial steam vents - or geysers - are periodic, intense hot water vapour eruptions that emerge from crevices in the ice sheet. The temperature of the steamy water eruption is hot enough to cause severe first-degree burns in any accidental bystander, though standard Alterra multi-purpose dive suits are sufficient for averting skin damage. |
